The flags are still waving and it will continue till late in the night in Moscow and other cities in Russia as their team made a historic 5-0 World Cup victory over Saudi Arabia in the opening match.
The spectators are also still singing the praises of the team and two goals hero Denis Cheryshev who put the match beyond the Saudis with magnificent goals in 43rd and 90th minutes.
The two teams really didn’t give much savvy into the encounter but the result has placed Russia just one more victory to book the second round ticket though that looks an herculean task against Uruguay and Egypt in Group A. Russia and Saudi are amongst the lowest ranked countries at the 2018 Mundial. But it was a desired result for the Russians who tried all the tricks in the book to subdue their opponents.
Gazinkiy scored first in the 12th minute while Denis Cheryshev made it 2-0 in 43rd minute and to end the first half. Dzyuba made it three in 71st minute and Cheryshev again in 90th. Golovin rapped it up in 90+4 to make it 5-0.
The pressure is now on Uruguay and Egypt when they square up to each other tomorrow. They both have to beat the host if they must secure a place in second round.
