Buhari To Attend AU Summit In Mauritania

 

President Muhammadu Buhari will Saturday June 30 leave Abuja for Nouakchott, Mauritania for the 31st Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government , scheduled to hold between June 30 and Monday July 2 on that country.
He is expected to address the august body on the theme “Winning the Fight against Corruption, A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”. The president is the leader of the AU theme.
Apart from that, President Buhari who is to be accompanied, among other people , by governors Godwin Obaseki of Edo and Tanko al-Makura of Nassarawa will participate in bilateral relations on issues of continental and global interests.
A statement by Mr Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, also indicates that the president will be part of an interactive session with President Emmanuel Macron of France on Financing AU-led Peace Support Operations authorized by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
These engagements will be complemented by sessions on security , health and climate change as they affect Africa.
