Want to have sex in your car? Police says: No Problem But…

Feeling horny? Want to have a quick one in your car? And you are afraid of arrest?

Nothing to fear. The Nigeria Police Force says it is not a crime to have sex in one’s car, the Punch newspaper has reported.

The paper, however, quoted the police as giving some caveats. And they include the fact that sex in a car could be a crime if it is done with underage person; or if the car is parked in a religious institution when the act takes place.

Sex in the car is also unlawful if it is between persons of the same sex.

The Police, therefore, asked that anybody who is harassed for having sex in a car to report the incident immediately.

All these, according to the Punch newspaper, were revealed by the Head of the Police Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit, Mr. Abayomi Shogunle, while responding to a question on Twitter.

The question was prompted by an incident that had gone viral on the social media had been raging on social media whereby a couple was harassed by a mob, last week, for having sex in a car.

The question was posted to Shogunle on Twitter and he responded as follows: “No. Sex in a car in a public place is not a crime in Nigeria, provided the location is not a place of worship; both persons are 18 years and above; the act is consensual (agreed to by parties); parties are of opposite sex.

“If threatened with an arrest over above, please report to the Police.”
