Saraki, Tambuwal, Others Express Shock, Extol Shagari’s Virtues

Nigerians have started reacting to the demise of the late President Shehu Shagari who passed on Friday at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Various top government functionaries have expressed their shock and condolences to the family of the late ex-President.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle on Friday, Senate President Bukola Saraki had tweeted: “My family and I join the entire nation to mourn the passing of former President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who led our nation during the Second Republic.”

“President Shagari, was a quintessential public servant; having served in seven cabinet positions and as a legislator. He dedicated his best years in the service of our nation and its people. May Allah grant him a place among the righteous ones in Aljannah Firdaus.”

On his own, the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, had tweeted: “I regret to Announce the death of former President Shehu Shagari who just passed away at National Hospital Abuja. May his Soul Rest in Peace.”
