Gbenro Adesina/Ibadan
For Oyo South Senatorial District election, Kola Balogu, candidate of the Peoples democratic Party (PDP) has been declaered winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC). He scored 105,720, while Governor Abiola Ajimobi of All Progressive Congress, APC who scored 92,217 votes. In other words, Balogun defeated Ajimobi with a vote difference of 13,502.
The returning officer of the district, Professor Wole Akinsola, released the results Monday morning at the INEC collation centre, located in Ibadan North LGA.
The local government areas of the senatorial district where Ajimobi won are: Ibadan Southwest, Ibarapa Central and Ido, while Balogun won the remaining six which are:Ibadan North, Ibadan Northwest, Ibadan Northeast, Ibadan Southeast, Ibarapa North, Ibarapa East.
The senator currently representing the district, Soji Akanbi, who contested on the platform of ADC did not win any local government but come third in votes cast.
