APC Hails Fayemi, INEC
BY ABIODUN NEJO
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has congratulated its governorship candidate and Ekiti State governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on his election as Governor.
APC said that Fayemi ran an effective and positive campaign focused on his agenda of rebuilding the economy of the state and returning its lost values of integrity, prudence and decency.
The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, local and international observers, as well as other stakeholders, for “their admirable role” in making the Ekiti gubernatorial election one in which the people’s will has prevailed.
The APC stated: “We thank the Ekiti electorate for voting en-masse for our Party’s candidate. This is a demonstration of their trust and confidence in Dr Fayemi’s ability to deliver on his campaign promises and a rejection of the crude and pedestrian politics of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We assure the people of Ekiti, and indeed all Nigerians, that our Party is best placed to move the country forward and resolve the seemingly intractable problems that have held us back,” he stated.
Similarly, APC in Ekiti State “warmly congratulated the Party’s Governorship Candidate, Dr. Fayemi, and his running mate, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, respectively, describing their victory as well-won and much deserved.
APC State Chairman, High Chief Jide Awe, also thanked immensely the Ekiti electorate for voting conscientiously for the party and expressed his gratitude to the good
people of the State for their impressive turnout and peaceful conduct during the election exercise.
The Chairman equally thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC leaders for their invaluable support towards winning the Ekiti State governorship election.
He, however, called for calm and appealed to the opposition parties and their candidates to accept defeat in good faith, while seeing accepting the outcome as a no victor, no vanquished one.
Awe said: “The APC thanks the Ekiti electorate for voting for the Party in the keenly-contested election. The Ekiti electorate have voted for the candidate of their choice, who they consider as having a proven track record of performance and integrity, and who will bring about the kind of turnaround the state needs at this crucial period, through focused leadership, good governance, restoration of cherished values and multi-faceted development.”
APC assured that the Governor-elect would surely be magnanimous in victory, and deliver on the expectations of the people of the state.”
Awe called on Governor Ayo Fayose, and the PDP candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola, “to accept and respect the resolved wishes of Ekiti people as popularly expressed and declared with their votes, rather than resorting to their usual display of political hatred and desperation”.
