These are apparently not the best of times for the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
With over three-quarters of the gubernatorial election results released at the collation centre in Abeokuta, overwhelming defeat stares him and his anointed godson in the face like a sore thumb.
For the governor’s anointed candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, the fear of Prince Dapo Abiodun, his all-conquering opponent from the All Progressives Congress, marks the beginning of wisdom.
In spite of the hype before the election that people of the state would witness a tsunami at the polls, results so far announced by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, have shown the Ogun gubernatorial race as a one-man horse race for Abiodun. And the governor seems unable to fathom ‘what the hell is going on here’ as Donald J. Trump would say.
