Europa League Final: Mkhitaryan, Arsenal Agree He Won’t Play in Baku

After weeks of expectations from UEFA and government of Azerbaijan, Europa Cup finalist, Arsenal and their star player Henrikh Mkhitaryan have agreed that his life is more valuable than the fun of playing in a final. They both agreed that the player will not even travel out of London to Baku on May 29 where Arsenal will battle English Premier League rivals Chelsea in the final.

UEFA have failed to give the necessary assurances over the safety of the ex-Manchester United  man, amid ongoing political tensions between host nation Azerbaijan and the player’s home country, Armenia.

Mkhitaryan has played more minutes in the competition than any other Arsenal outfield player but he will not travel with his teammates.

He took to Instagram to address the developments, posting: “Having considered all the current options, we had to take the tough decision for me not to travel with the squad to the Europa League Final.

“It’s the kind of game that doesn’t come along very often for us players and I must admit, it hurts me a lot to miss it. I will be cheering my teammates on! Let’s bring it home.”
