Eid-el Fitr: Leaders Send messages of Hope, Love and Tolerance

Nigerian leaders have asked citizens to embrace love, forgiveness and self-denial as they celebrate the Eid-el Fitr across the county on Tuesday. In his message President Muhammadu Buhari gave assurance that his government will not spare anyone who perpetrates any form of criminality. In the statement signed by Malam Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to president on media and publicity, the president said all those who are behind the acts of terrorism, kidnapping and robbery should know that their days are numbered.
Senate president , Bukola Saraki; Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the House of Representatives, governors Isiaka Oyetola, Simon Lalong and Seyi Makinde of Osun, Plateau and Oyo States respectively preached peace and understanding among the people of the country. Dogara who said they should demonstrate genuine love, self-denial and forgiveness also implore them to pray for Nigeria for the wisdom for her leaders to overcome the challenges besetting the country.
Lalong wants them to pray for unity and love, while also admonishing them to practice the lessons of Ramadan. Makinde is confident that if people imbibe the spirit of sharing, love and kindness, Nigeria will be a better place. Oyetola said people should demonstrate tolerance, sacrifice and selflessness.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who is also the president-general of Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, NSCIA announced the siting of the moon on Monday. That marked the end of the 30 days of fasting and prayers. Sallah celebration was therefore scheduled for Tuesday June 4,2019.
