Breaking: CAF Sacks Amaju Pinnick As 1st Vice President!

The lingering power play at the continental football ruling body, the Confederation of African Football, CAF, got to its crescendo Thursday afternoon in Egypt as the President of  Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick has been removed as CAF 1st Vice president.

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad and Amaju have been at loggerheads for months now leading to the arrest and detention of the former in France during the 2019 Women’s World Cup even as football analysts fingered the Nigerian football administrator as one of the masterminds.

Reasons for Amaju’s sack as 1st Vice President of CAF were not immediately given or confirmed but The Crest learnt that most members of the football-ruling executive were seen after their Congress  discussing in twos and threes, giving indication that it may not be unconnected with the cold relationship between Amaju Pinnick and CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad.

The action was taken at CAF’s ongoing Exco committee meeting, taking place after the conclusion of Thursday’s congress.

According to reliable source Osazu Obayuana on Twitter wrote on his official handle:

“Breaking: @PinnickAmaju has been removed as @CAF_Online 1st Vice-President. The action was taken at CAF’s ongoing exco committee meeting, taking place after the conclusion of Thursday’s congress.

And the man on the right of @PinnickAmaju, Danny Jordaan is now the @CAF_Online 3rd Vice-President. The battle for 1st VP is between @OmariConstant & @FRMFOFFICIEL President Fouzi Lekjaa.”

@OmariConstant is now @CAF_Online’s 1st VP, @FRMFOFFICIEL’s Fouzi Lekjaa is 2nd VP, with @SAFA_net’s Danny Jordaan 3rd VP.

Welcome to African football’s Game of Thrones!”
