Femi Adesina Returns, Ita Enang Out as Buhari Set to Unveil Aides

As the count-down to the August 21, 2019 inauguration of the next level cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari continues, there were strong indications, Monday, that the President may announce the re-appointment of Mr. Femi Adesina as Special Adviser, Media and Publicity after the Sallah holiday.

The Crest learnt that the President had, last Thursday, directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, to issue letters of appointment to Adesina, Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, and other presidential aides.

The aides were recently ratified by the National Assembly. And barring any last minute change, President Muhammadu Buhari will announce the appointment of the aides before the week runs out.

Signs that it was just a matter of days before the President unveils his aides emerged with reports, on Monday, that  Ita Enang, a former senator and his first term Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters, had been dropped. Enang was reportedly dropped, based on a recommendation by the Senate Leadership,  in favour of Babajide Christopher Omoworare, an ex-senator from Osun State.

Omoworare was a two-term senator for Osun East Senatorial District of Osun State.

Enang was reportedly dropped for low performance. But The Crest was unable to independently confirm the story as at the time of filing this report.

Earlier in July, President Buhari had approved the re-appointment of his personal physician, Dr. Suhayb Rafindadi, and 10 other personal staff. Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, made the disclosure in a July 5, 2019 press statement.

The new Federal Executive Council, FEC, will be inaugurated on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the State House, Abuja. This would be preceded by a two-day induction for the new ministers scheduled for August 19 and 20 respectively.
