BREAKING: Gunmen Storm Kaduna School, Abduct 6 Schoolgirls 2 Teachers

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen, Thursday morning, invaded a private secondary school in Kaduna State and abducted six students and two teachers.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mr. Yakubu Sabo, said the gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, invaded the Engravers College, a mixed-gender school located at Kakau Daji, a village in the Chikun Local Government Area, at 12:10 a.m., making away with the victims.

Sabo further revealed that the gunmen into the school through the porous fence and went straight to the female hostel and abducted the students alongside the two teachers residing inside the school.

The school bursar, Mr. Elvis Allah-Yaro, corroborated the police spokesman’s account. A woman was said to have lost her 16-year-old senior secondary school (SS 2) two student to the abductors.

No person or group has claimed responsibility yet.

However, the police spokesperson said a combined team of Police Mobile Force and Anti-Kidnapping Squad have launched a manhunt for the bandits, assuring that the victims would be rescued unhurt and the kidnappers brought to justice.

Sabo advised proprietors of private schools to beef up security in their premises to forestall a recurrence of the highly traumatising experience.

The development came as many parts of Kaduna State remained under attack from armed bandits. Hundreds of people have been abducted in the state this year alone, with most of the abductions being reported on Abuja-Kaduna Highway.

The major highway has been left largely unused by travellers, as abductions continue largely unabated despite efforts by the military, police and other law enforcement authorities.

This is a developing story, additional details will be updated.
