Trouble doesn’t rain for Akinwumi Ambode, the former Governor of Lagos State, it pours.
For the second time in two weeks, the Lagos State House of Assembly has summoned him to come and account for some transactions carried out by his administration.
Two weeks ago, the House summoned the former governor to appear before it but the man declined the invitation.
Unlike the first summon, the House published the notice of this second one in some national dallies. It asked Ambode to come and throw light on certain financial dealings by his administration.
Specifically, the former governor is being asked to respond to five major questions, namely: “(1) Unauthorised discounting of promissory note; (2) Purchase of 820 buses by his administration without due authorisation; (3) Misappropriation of Special Expenditure Funds; (4) Improper implementation of the Appropriation Law; and (5) Non-adherence to the Financial Regulations of the state”.
The lawmakers also asked the former governor to furnish the House with 15 copies each of all relevant document(s) relating to the issues raised through the Office of the Clerk of the House on or before Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
It is not clear whether Mr. Ambode would snub the latest summon like he did the first or answer it. And only time would tell where the Ambode/Hhouse of Assembly imbroglio would end.
