Kogi Decides: Dino Melaye’s Nephew shot, dead

Dino Melaye, incumbent senator for the Kogi West Senatorial District, also candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Saturday’s vote, has announced that his nephew, Olorunjuwon, who was reportedly shot at his polling unit has died.

The PDP candidate announced, on his twitter handle, @dino_melaye, that the man passed on Sunday morning.

Taking to his Twitter handle @dino_melaye, at 7.15a.m.on Sunday, Melaye had tweeted:

“My nephew Olorunjuwon who was shot at my pooling unit yesterday died this morning. My brother your death is a Supreme sacrifice in the struggle for the liberation of our people. Rest in peace aburo…

So sad.”

On Saturday, Melaye, ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had published unofficial results of the election in some areas.

At 2.37a.m., Sunday, he took to his twitter handle, alleging fraud in the process, claiming that his party’s votes had been swapped.

“NYSC pooling officers forced to sign new results,” Melaye claimed in his tweet. “What class of desperation…In God alone I trust.”
