Former Governor of Abia State and Senate Chief Whip, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has headed to court on account of failing health, asking the court to grant him a post-conviction bail to enable him seek appropriate treatment.
In his application to the court on Tuesday, Kalu, who represents Abia North at the Senate, said he had serious health challenges which the medical facilities in the prison cannot handle.

Aside that, he also submitted that the interests of his constituents in Abia North Senatorial District would be in serious jeopardy if he continues to be kept in the correctional facility at Kuje in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, however, opposed Kalu’s application.
