The choice of Liverpool and Senegal forward, Sadio Mane as African Footballer of the Year 2019 is devoid of controversy….This is one of the few occasions CAF got it right! This award in recent years has been tainted with controversies.
One other good thing about this award is that it has further heightened the rivalry between the two Liverpool African forwards, Mane and Mohamed Salah whose absence in this award is most unfortunate and unsportsmanly if true he shunned the event just because he knew he was not going to be the winner.
The beauty of this award is that it will spark off greater battle between both players….just as it reminds the football fraternity of the Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi rivalry which has been on for 12 years and still counting.
Congrats Sadio Mane….you deserve your award and honour. You have just started. Beyond the skies is where we seek you next..
