Osun Council of Obas Hammers Cantankerous Oluwo, Suspends Him for 6 Months

By Timothy Ojo

The cup of misdemeanours of the controversial Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, may have become full and running over.

Reason: the cantankerous monarch who reportedly turned a fellow Oba to a punching bag at a recent peace meeting, was suspended for six months, on Friday, by the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers.

The suspension order was handed to Oba Akanbi sequel to a recommendation by a committee of the State Council of Traditional Rulers headed by Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Adedotun.

The council handed the suspension sentence to Oba Akanbi after their emergency meeting held at Osun State Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo, the Osun State capital, presided over by Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Apart from the alleged boxing show of shame by the Oba, the Oba Akanbi may have also drawn the ire of the Council with his apparent disrespect for three top paramount rulers in Yorubaland-the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, and the Alake of Egbaland, Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III.

The Council had mandated the committee to, among others, investigate the dismal and embarrassing relationship between the controversial Oluwo and some royal fathers in Iwoland.
