Fears Allayed as Pope Francis Tests Negative to Coronavirus

By Timothy Ojo

Pope Francis has tested negative to Coronavirus, despite suffering from a cold, according to a report by an Italian Newspaper on Tuesday.

There must have been murmurs and rumours flying around after the Pope, for the first time, cancelled a Lent Meeting and also all official appointments from  last week till now.

There were fears the 83-year-old pontiff might be suffering from the symptoms of the COVID-19, which has engulfed Italy, making her the nation with the most cases in Europe, 2000, and the highest number of deaths, 52 persons, as it is now.

The virus, which originated from China has continued to spread across the world, with more countries revealing their first cases and others fighting relentlessly to curtail the pandemic.

The Pope was seen last month coughing and picking his nose, but the Vatican has been quick to quell any rumour that the Pontiff has the virus.

The Newspaper, Messaggero did not state the time the Pope was tested negative.
