The Italian national vector of the corona virus, who came on a business trip to Ogun State and inadvertently brought the virus, has been given a clean bill of health.
The Lagos Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, broke the good news at a press conference, Thursday, declaring that the Italian vector had tested negative to the virus.
The Italian, a consultant to Lafarge Africa Plc, who took ill during the business trip to Ewekoro Cement, in Ogun State, tested positive for the deadly virus on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
While breaking the news of the Italian’s infection, the Commissioner had announced that “He fell ill on the 26th February and was transferred to Lagos State Biosecurity Facilities for isolation and testing. COVID-19 infection was confirmed by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, part of the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
“The patient is clinically stable, with no serious symptoms, and is being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.”
This Thursday, Dr. Abayomi told journalists that the Italian’s full recovery was good news for Lagosians and Nigerians as a whole.
