Two major events associated with, and directly involving physical participation by Professor Wole Soyinka, have been postponed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The organisers of the two events, Providusbank and Bookcraft gave notifications of the postponements in separate releases.
In the first statement, Providusbank said it was shifting its World Poetry Day event with the theme: Voices of the Earth, because of the pandemic, and urged “everyone to follow all safety and health protocols laid out to stem the spread of the virus.”
In a statement signed by Bankole Olayemi, Bookcraft also announced the postponement of the exclusive presentation of Soyinka’s latest book, Beyond Aesthetics, scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2020.
The organisers will announce new dates for the two events later.
