COVID-19: Mushin Records First Case

Mushin Local Government, in Lagos State, on Wednesday, recorded its first case of the corona virus. The patient, a resident of Takuro street, is the first case reported in the densely populated local government area.

The case in Mushin was disclosed by its Local Government Chairman, Emmanuel Bamigboye, through a statement released by his media aide, Sanusi Rasaq.

The case was reported at Takuro Street, in Idi-Araba, in Mushin.

Bamigboye said the medical team of the Local government, led by Dr Wale Akeredolu, immediately transferred the patient to the virus control centre at IDH, Yaba.

The Chairman also explained the patient was already under quarantine and receiving treatment, adding that the patient’s family members had been placed in isolation so as to contain the virus.

He pleaded with the public not to panic as the case recorded was undergoing treatment at Yaba.

He also enjoined the residents to heed all expert advice on the pandemic.

“We need be careful of the places we go to now to avoid contact with infected persons because Lagos State recorded the highest number of cases,” Bamigboye said. “This is not the time for social gatherings in churches, mosques, clubs, weddings, birthday parties, etc as the world is fighting against COVID-19.”
