As the coronavirus pandemic continues its ravages across the world, it has been targeting Nigeria’s ruling class. It has struck Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, and Mr. Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State Governor.
Now, it has got the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam El-Rufai.
The governor announced COVID-19 infection through a video clip he posted on his twitter page on Saturday.
“Earlier this week,” El-Rufai announced, “I submitted a sample for the COVID-19 test, the result came in this evening and I regret to say that it is positive.
“According to the protocols for managing COVID-19, I’m in sell isolation as said by the case management guidelines of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control for someone that is showing no symptoms.
“I wish to appeal to the people of Kaduna State to closely announce the preventive measures already announced by our government.
“It is most important that everyone should do their utmost to stay safe, stay home and stay alive. the Deputy Governor is in charge of our task force on COVID-19. I will continue to issue statements from time to time. Thank you very much.”
El-Rufai becomes the second governor to test positive for COVID-19, after Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed, had been confirmed positive for the viral infection on Tuesday, March 24.
