How We’ll Share Relief Materials in Ado-Odo/Ota –Council Boss

Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area of Ogun State is set to embark on a door-to-door distribution of relief materials to vulnerable people in the area to cushion the effect of the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.

This is according to the chairman of the council, Mr. Wasiu Lawal.

He said the exercise would be carried out with the help of community development associations.

He said with the plan on ground, those entitled to the relief package in the area would be reached.

His words:  “Our buses will convey the relief materials to every locality within the local government. The committee we have put in place comprises my humble self and those that are closer to the generality of the people.

“I am the chairman of the committee while the zonal chairman is the deputy.

“We decided not to distribute before the lockdown because we want it to get down to the right people.

“The distribution will be carried out using a door-to-door system.

“That will also enable us to be sure that our people are obeying the stay at home instruction of the government.”

The council boss added that there were plans to distribute forms to be filled in future for the distribution of relief materials.

He said among other things, the people of the area would be required to fill in their account numbers, BVN numbers to make the process of distribution of palliatives easy in future.

He appealed to the people not to be apprehensive but supply the data to make the process easy.

The Majority Leader of Ogun State House of Assembly, Sheriff Yusuff Abiodun, who spoke on the need to help the needy, stressed the importance of the exercise.

He said giving to the needy in the society should not be left to the government or the House of Assembly alone.

“We all must help the needy in order to have a better society.

“As a matter of fact on my own, I have distributed some relief materials like sanitizer and food items to the people of my constituency.

“I’m calling on everybody, mostly those in the corporate world, to assist the needy and I believe we will fight and win the COVID19 pandemic that has locked us down.”
