Son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who has battled COVID-19 for 40 days, has now been given a clean bill of health.
Mr. Mohammed Atiku-Abubakar, 31, said he tested negative for the virus twice and may be discharged from the isolation centre any moment from now.
The young Atiku-Abubakar has been in the isolation centre since March 22, 2020. He tested positive to the virus on March 19. His recovery is the longest in the history of epidemiology in the country.
“I have just received my second consecutive negative result. My discharge is currently being processed, and I hope to be home this evening,” he said.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, does not statutorily comment on individual cases. The organisation, therefore, didn’t comment on Mr. Atiku-Abubakar’s recovery and imminent discharge.
Since it first hit the world late last year through Wuhan, China, coronavirus has spread to virtually every country on the globe, infecting some three million people and killing 200, 000, still counting. Many people have also survived it too.
