Bayelsa State Government has extended the state government’s COVID-19 lockdown by another seven days, starting from Monday.
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa state, had earlier imposed the lockdown on April as a measure to forestall the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
This order was contained in a statement by the acting Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Daniel Alabrah, who said the government had to impose the lockdown so as to mitigate internally, COVID-19.
The statement also added that the state had adopted the presidential directive on curfew from 8 pm to 6 am, an order to take effect in two weeks time.
The statement read, “In accordance with the presidential directive, wearing of face masks in public is now compulsory. Violators risk prosecution.”
