The Adamawa State government, Friday, disclosed that it had discharged eight more COVID-19 patients from the isolation centre in Yola.
The state Commissioner for Health, Professor Abdullahi Isa, who dropped the hint on Friday, said that the eight were discharged after they all tested negative twice for the coronavirus.
“This is in line with the protocol of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC,”Isa said. “We had earlier discharged five on Monday and eight today.”
He said from the inception, Adamawa State had 181 suspected cases while 21 were diagnosed positive.
Professor Isa noted that as at the time of the briefing, there are only eight patients at the isolation center and expressed the hope that they will also test negative in subsequent test.
He stressed that it has gone a long way to prove to those who are sceptical about the disease, that the disease is in existence and people could come out fully treated.
The commissioner expressed Governor Fintiri’s appreciation to people of the state for their understanding and support during the period of containment of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For now, the state had a total of 21 COVID-19 patients at one of the isolation centres in the state capital, Yola. With this development, only eight patients are left at the isolation centre.
