Nigeria’s Biggest Reality TV Show, Big Brother Naija To Premiere in July, Auditions Begin

In the face of the current pandemic, Nigeria’s foremost reality TV show, Big Brother Naija, MultiChoice Nigeria has announced that the fifth season of the popular show will premiere in July 2020, much to the delight of fans and viewers nationwide.

The organisers disclosed this in a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday.

However, this time around there won’t be a physical audition as the show has been known to be, rather, the organisers of the BBNaija show said it will run an online audition process from May 20 till May 30.

Prospective contestants are expected to record a two-minute video of themselves stating why they should be selected to be a housemate in season 5 of Big Brother Naija. After which they are to log on to BBAudition website to fill out the online registration form to upload their recorded videos.

According to the organisers, the registration and audition are free and open to both male and female participants whose nationality is Nigerian and also possess a valid Nigerian passport.

Another factor for the participants is, they must be 21 years of age by June 1, 2020.

The Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe spoke on the return of BBNaija, “Big Brother Naija has been widely regarded as one of Africa’s biggest entertainment exports, being the biggest showcase of Nigeria’s diversity outside of core Nollywood. This fifth season promises to be more adventurous, exciting and entertaining, and will undoubtedly be the biggest thing on African television in 2020.”

Mr Ugbe added: “The timing of the show is also particularly important, given the dominance of the COVID-19 pandemic; auditions for the fifth edition will now hold online and viewers and stakeholders alike can rest assured knowing that global best practices, precautions and preventive measures will be followed throughout the show, even as we guarantee the premium entertainment BBNaija is renowned for.”

Since its maiden edition in 2006, the Big Brother reality TV show has produced some of the biggest names in the fashion industry, Media and pop cultures influencers.
