Desperate in his bid to secure a second term ticket, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has run to the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Sunday for support.
Both governors met at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt.
Details of the meeting were sketchy but there were speculations they might not be unconnected with the political future of Obaseki, who has been disqualified from contesting the primaries of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Edo.
Political watchers have painted a scary picture about the future of the embattled Obaseki saying he has participated in the All Progressive Congress, APC, primary before he was disqualified.
“Defection to another party is not an option at all for Obaseki,” an analyst said. “Having participated in APC primary automatically disqualifies him from participating in any other party primaries for the same post.
“They need to advise the guy well. No long grammar required here. Remember the Okorocha in-law in the last gubernatorial election in Imo State. Nwosu did same and was not even granted locust standing in a law court as an interested party, even though he contested the election. Obaseki’s fate was nailed and buried by the APC screening committee.”
