Ondo Guber: Me! Step Down for Agboola? Never, Says Eddy Olafeso

One of the leading People’s Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial aspirants in Ondo State, Dr Eddy Olafeso has debunked rumour of his stepping down for the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi who defected from the All Progressive Congress, APC, recently.

Olafeso spoke with The Crest from Abuja shortly before he under-went the party’s screening saying he is in the race to win.

“Me! Step down?” Olafeso asked rhetorically. “That’s rubbish. That’s balderdash. I am in the race to win. How can anybody in his right frame of mind ever think of that?

“In fact, I am in Abuja waiting for my screening. I could not have spent a lot of money, traversed the length and breadth of the state, had sleepless nights and all the attendant risks only for me to step down for somebody.

“I have the brightest chance and an intimidating credential to clinch the PDP gubernatorial ticket. Eddy Olafeso is contesting for the Governor of Ondo State because he possesses the intellectual wherewithal, requisite experience, business network and the human management skill required to address various challenges bedeviling our sunshine state.”

The former University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) president of the Students Union says he remains the aspirant to beat at the primary adding that the state needs someone with outstanding qualities to handle the affairs of our State.

Dr. Eddy Eniola Olafeso has always displayed academic brilliance and indisputable focus. He had to take the long route in his quest for higher education owing to paucity of funds at his parent’s disposal.

He was admitted to teachers training college Ode Aye as a 17-year-old and from there, he transferred to college of education, Ikere, in Ekiti state.

His legendary ambition and unquenchable thirst for greater height saw him admitted to the then University of Ife in the late 1970s where he bagged a first degree in English and Master of Science degree in International Relations.

In 1982, he was the Student Union president of the Great Ife University and was given a meritorious award. He further more attained a doctor of philosophy degree in International Relations from the Atlantic University, Hawaii.

This is what propped me up for the driver’s seat in Ondo state and I believe strongly that my administration will be fair to all, Olafeso stressed.
