‘Dankwambo Has no Moral Right to Attack Yahaya’

Governor-Ibrahim-Hassan-Dankwambo-of-Gombe-State

Gombe State Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Kwami, has said that former Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo does not have any moral right to attack  his successor, Mohammed Yahaya.

He said Dankwambo left behind a debt of N120 billion, which is currently making Yahaya struggle to clean up the financial mess the state had been thrown into.

In a meeting with journalists in Gombe in Sunday, Kwami recalled Dankwambo’s alleged financial misdemeanours, citing the N5 billion Paris Club fund to the state in the twilight of his administration, which was reportedly shared before he handed over.

“About N3.6 billion was withdrawn a day to hand-over. I know all these because I was part of the transition sub-committee on finance. Cheques were issued to some individuals. Those were what happened,” he continued.

The commissioner also said that Dankwambo appointed six commissioners without ministries two months to the expiration of his government. He said: “Without prejudice, let me even come out to tell you; at the 11th hour, just two months to the end of the last government’s tenure, it appointed six commissioners without ministries and procured vehicles for them.”

“But to recover the money they stole is hectic. We had done all we could. The case is now at the court for decision. But since government is a continuum, we have since been servicing the debt they left behind.”

He further warned Dankwambo to remember his unpatriotic activities of his aides and his mismanagement of funds before attacking the of Yahaya.
