An explosion has rocked a gas station in the Baruwa, Ipaja of the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State on Thursday.
The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday. Our correspondent gathered that the explosion occurred at around 05:40am.
Not less than 40 people were injured, although no casualty has been confirmed as at press time.
First responders including men of the Lagos Fire Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency have been drafted to the area, to subdue the fire.
Providing an update on the explosion, Ibrahim Farinloye, the Acting Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said three persons were rescued while five bodies, confirmed dead were recovered from the explosion.
The rescued persons were taken to a hospital after the initial first aid treatment, the official said.
