The ongoing #ENDSARS protests rocking the country took a violent turn on Monday as some people claiming to be the indigenous people of Abuja allegedly confronted the protesters around the Apo Mechanic Village, causing mayhem.
At press time, the mayhem, according to eyewitnesses, had claimed more than 50 cars which were burnt in a nearby car market.
According to reports, the hoodlums had wanted to attack the #EndSARS protesters Monday morning but were effectively resisted by the protesters, forcing their attackers to bid a retreat.
But by the time they had reinforced and returned to tackle the #ENDSARS people had dispersed.
Frustrated, the hoodlums, wielding dangerous weapons like machetes and knives, reportedly invaded a car mart at Jesus Avenue, along Apo Mechanic Village, and burnt it down.
They also reportedly spilled into the street and attacked whoever was on sight. This made people to scamper in every direction for safety.
The identity of the owners of the car mart was unknown at press time and the police were yet to issue a formal statement.
