The Nigerian Army says its troops were not involved in the reported shooting and killing of unarmed youths protesting police brutality at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos on Tuesday night.
Armed soldiers who were caught on video opened fire on protesters at the Lekki Tollgate killing many and injuring several others.
The youths have been on the streets across the country demanding a total reform of the Nigeria Police and good governance.
Reacting via its official Twitter handle, @HQNigerianArmy, the army put together tweets and posts on its involvement and tagged them fake news, warning readers to beware.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had blamed ‘forces beyond our control,’ for the killing of the youths on Tuesday night.
