In the most horrendous attack this year, Boko Haram terrorists were, on Saturday, reported to have massacred at least 43 farmers in Borno state..
The tragedy occured as farmers were on the way to their farms to harvest rice.
Similarly, an unspecified number of people, especially women, were also abducted.
The attack occurred around Marrabati and Hammayya villages, near Zabarmari in Jere Local Government of Borno State Saturday morning.
Civilian Joint Task Force sources say 60 of the farmers were gathered before the assailants shot at close range or beheaded their victims.
It is not clear how many of the farmers were taken away, or how many were spared but a total of 60 persons were reportedly assembled before the bloodletting.
Sources say the location, a short distance from the last Jere town, is a stronghold of the insurgents.
Local government elections were conducted in the state, Saturday, with voter apathy witnessed in some parts.
