The House of Representatives on Thursday created an additional standing Committee to take care of host communities in the Niger Delta in the spirit of the Petroleum Industry Bill currently being considered by the National Assembly.
The Host Community standing Committee is one of the three additional Committees announced by the Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila at Thursday plenary of the House.
The other committees are; House Committee on Disabilities and House Committee on Science Research Institutions bringing the total number of Standing Committees to 108.
The Petroleum Industrial Bill (PIB) presently before the House seeks a holistic development of petroleum host communities.
Also on Thursday President Muhammadu Buhari transmitted the 2021 Appropriation Bill of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to the National Assembly
In a letter from the President read by the Speaker, the President appealed for the quick passage of the bill.
FCT statutory budget is estimate of income and expenditure for the Territory in its status of one of the States of the Federation.
