Vacation Order: South West Governors Meet Miyetti Allah On Monday

There were strong indications on Sunday that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his colleagues in the South West may meet with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria over the brouhaha generated by the quit notice the governor served to herders occupying government forest reserves in Ondo State.

The seven-day notice lapsed on Sunday. As part of his efforts at tackling the spiralling security problems in the state, Akeredolu had, while issuing the ultimatum, banned night grazing and juvenile herders.

The ultimatum had generated emotive reactions from the Presidency as well as Miyetti Allah with the former describing it as unconstitutional, saying it may yield spiral effects.

A trustworthy source said the parley will hold at Akure, the Ondo State capital, which doubles as the operational headquarters of Amotekun, the South West Security initiative.

The meeting, it was further disclosed, was called mainly to find an enduring solution to the rash of killings and kidnap for ransom by criminals, as well as the unending crises between cattle herders and farmers.

Ondo State Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Bello Garba, confirmed the meeting on Sunday, and added that the association’s national chairman had already arrived Akure, the capital.
