The Ikale Heritage Development Association, IHDA, has joined millions of Nigerians to congratulate Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State as he will be sworn-in for a second term on Wednesday.
The inauguration ceremonies begin Tuesday in Akure, with a lecture to be delivered by foremost banker and President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina on the topic:-“Towards A New Nigeria: From Federal Fatherism To A Commonwealth.”
Adesina, former Federal Minister of Agriculture’s lecture is part of lined up activities marking the second term inauguration of Governor Akeredolu and the deputy governor elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa as Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, Chairman Caretaker and Convention Planning Committee and Governor of Yobe State, would be the Chairman of the event.
Chairman of the IHDA, Otunba Sola Olatunji in a message to the governor commended him for a good job in his first term but adds that there is always room for better performance in the next four years urging him to focus on rapid economic and industrial development in the state.
Olatunji specifically appeals to the governor to hit the ground running and make the construction of a sea port in the state a top priority during his second term.
“Governor Akeredolu did well in his first term and IHDA has applauded him,” Olatunji said. “Four years is relatively a long time for the governor to permanently etch his name in gold in Ondo State by consolidating on the rapid economic and industrial development he started in the first term.
“Ondo State has the potential to be one of the best states in Nigeria and we enjoin Governor Akeredolu to select a crack team of professionals and technocrats that will help him achieve this dream of building an economic empire that will position Ondo State in the forefront among other states in Nigeria,
“The governor must also ensure inclusiveness in his government to promote peace and development. The late Lateef Kayode Jakande spent only four years and created unimaginable landmarks in Lagos State. Governor Akeredolu can replicatesame in Ondo through inclusiveness in his activities for the next four years.”
The governor was re-elected for another term of four years on October 10, 2020.
Governor Akeredolu is the sixth elected governor of the state since the late.
Michael Adekunle Ajasin was elected in 1979, under the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN.
