Bandits Release 29 Forestry Students in Kaduna

The 29 students abducted by bandits from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State, have been released.

Mr Abdullahi Usman, who serves as the Chairman of the Parents’ Committee of the abducted students, confirmed the release of the students to Channels Television on Wednesday in Kaduna.

He explained that the victims were released some minutes past 4 pm around the Kidanda area in Giwa Local Government Area of the state, and were on their way back to the state capital.

Usman, however, refused to disclose if a ransom was paid for the students’ release.

The students were among the 37 abducted almost two months ago.

Their abductors had initially demanded a N500 million ransom from the Kaduna State Government but Governor Nasir El-Rufai ruled out the option of negotiation, saying bandits deserve to be killed.
