Chairman of Ikale Heritage Development Association, Otunba Sola Olatunji has berated former military dictator, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida over his recent interview on the Arise Television where he fruitlessly tried to rewrite the history of June 12, 1993 and also appointing himself as the ordained prophet that will choose who becomes Nigeria’s president in 2023.
Olatunji said that it would have been better for Babangida to remain silent forever as he lost the moral right to tell Nigerians who becomes their president since the wicked annulment of the June 12, 1993 election that produced the late martyr, Bashorun MKO Abiola.
“The June 12 annulment will hurt Babangida for the rest of his life irrespective of how hard he tries to rewrite the history,” Olatunji said. “His confession that some generals would have killed Abiola if he had allowed the election results to stand is a mere balderdash and an attempt to exonerate himself. But unknown to him, that statement further confirms that there are some Nigerians who believe they own this country.
“We can’t forget in a hurry that IBB with his cohorts tossed Nigerians for several years in attempts to subvert democratic institutions and how the military under him killed hundreds of Nigerians who raised their voices against his repugnant actions.
“The best IBB can do is to apologize publicly to Nigerians for the killings and murder of millions of Nigerians including MKO, Kudirat Abiola, Pa Alfred Rilwani, Journalists and others. Until then, IBB has lost the right to talk to Nigerians about democracy as nobody will listen to him again.
“What an insult! These ex-military people feel Nigeria is their personal estate. They think Nigeria is their inheritance. No matter how they claim to be a converted Democrats, it’s obvious they are trying to deceive us. Everything about them is draconian and unfriendly to the constitution of the nation.
“IBB was an instrument used to destroy this country and Nigerians. We don’t need his counsel anymore. He should just keep quiet and stop talking about the June 12 election he wickedly annulled. Posterity will never forgive him for putting Nigeria in reverse gear.
“He legitimized corruption and 419 crimes. In fact, IBB represents Nigeria’s darkest moment of our political history.”
