The deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Lamido Sanusi, has declared that he neither nurtures any political ambition nor is he aspiring to be President of Nigeria.

The former Emir revealed that he had even secured admission to the University of London for a PhD programme in Law and will be writing on “the codification of Muslim family laws an instrument of social reform”.

Speaking at a reception in his honour to mark his 60th birthday in Abuja, Sanusi said fear and greed are the two critical factors that have destroyed Nigeria.

He said his prison experience has molded him not to be afraid of going to prison or dying.

Sanusi noted that the country had a serious problem should privileged Nigerians continue to ignore less privileged citizens.
