32 Abducted Students of Bethel Baptist School Kaduna Freed

…31 More Still in Kidnappers’ Den

There was rapture of joy in Kaduna State, Friday, as 32 students of the 63 remaining abducted students of Bethel Baptist School in Chikun Local Government area of the state were rescued from captivity.

A report monitored on Channels Television quoted a top official of the school as saying that the students regained their freedom on Friday and had been handed over to their parents.

Though there has been no official statement as to how the freed students regained their freedom, sources said efforts had been intensified to get the remaining 31 students in the forest back home safe and sound.

Armed bandits had, on July 5, 2021, attacked the school and abducted 121 students from their hostels. Twenty days later, precisely July 25, 28 of the students were set free by the criminals after they (the kidnappers) had been paid a ransom.

Last Sunday, August 22, 15 more of the students were set free by their captors.

Kidnapping-for-ransom has become big business in Nigeria, especially in the North West and North Central, and particularly Kaduna State where kidnappers have become so bold they metaphorically stroll into any institution that catches their fancy and abduct people at will.

People in the aforementioned regions have been sleeping with one eye closed for over a year now as armed bandits unleash terror on communities, abducting many, and killing several. The criminals target schools and they have kidnapped over 1,000 students during the period.
