A Nigerian business mogul and chairman of the Ikale Heritage Development Association, Otunba Sola Olatunji has urged Nigerians not to fall into the mistakes of the past by voting politicians with incredible track records as the race to the 2023 elections begins in earnest.
The marine economy expert laments that Nigeria is at the precipice at the moment stressing that only a person with both local and international clout should be given the mandate to fix the country otherwise it may be ‘good night to Nigeria’.
“Nigeria problems can’t be fixed by any kindergarten politician or one without public office experience or corporate background,” Olatunji said in a chat with The Crest. “Year 2023 is very crucial. It will determine if Nigeria will remain as one or several components going their own ways. To achieve the desire for a better society we all aspired for, we need the ship of the nation to have the best of crew and piloted by a captain with both local and international experience.
But the social cultural leader is not utterly pessimistic like others saying that the situation is not badly hopeless as some people fear. He says the solution lies in the power of our voter cards.
“We have to choose right,” he said. “There is no room for experiments again if we must remain a one united country. The ship of State is currently experiencing a great storm which is putting it at the risk of capsizing or wrecking if we don’t call our captain with extraordinary experience to salvage the situation so that we can navigate our way to safety.
“This is absolutely a serious business if we must navigate our ways ashore. 2023 should not be time for petty or partisan politics. It is a year to look for the best hands to run the affairs of this country.
“We must rise up against all manners of emotional and primordial sentiments in choosing the President in 2023. It’s equally not a time for permutations or substituting capacity and competences for ethnicity or religious persuasions. It’s the time to call out our best brain with extraordinary credentials to come on board as the captain of our ship to navigate the storming weather.
“This task is not for any green horns but a personality with passion for excellence and visionary potential.
“A true Nigerian president must rise above ethnic sentiment and implement federal character principle to the letter. He must take major decisions by putting into consideration our diverse ethnic nationalities and stick to the ethos of equity, justice and fairplay.
“In my honest opinion, I think Nigerians should consider Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fix this country politically, economically and culturally so that Nigeria can stand high in the comity of progressive Nations of the world.”
