Big Day in Kano, As Capital City University Holds Investiture of Chancellor, Inaugurates Council

Capital City University, Kano, CCUK, one of the 20 new private universities approved by the Federal Government last February, and licensed by the National University Commission, NUC, in August, 2021, has hit the ground running.

This Saturday, January 8, 2022, all roads lead to the university’s main campus at Nasarawa GRA, Kano City, where the investiture of the Chancellor, His Highness, Mal. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau in the Zazzau Emirate, Zaria, will hold.

The double-barreled event also includes the inauguration of the University’s Governing Council led by retired Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, former Chief of Army Staff, former Minister of Interior, and recipient of the National Award of the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic, CFR, who holds a PhD in Criminology.

Other members of Council include: Prof. Tajudeen Akanji, Prof. S.U. Abdullahi, Prof. S. Abogonye Ochoche, Dr. Uchenna Nwaneri, Prof. S. Z. Abubakar, Vice Chancellor, among others.

Capital City University, Kano, sits on a 100-hectare parcel of land which, its sponsors say, will house its permanent campus. It is located at about 15 minutes’ drive from Kano City at Warawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The university aims to provide sound and innovative academic and extra-curricular programmes, which shall “imbue men and women with knowledge and professional skills to identify and respond to the economic, social, scientific, and technological needs of society in a sustainable manner.”
