Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has described rumour of his death while on holiday in Germany as a wicked act.
The governor who returned to Nigeria on Sunday night said he went to Germany to have a deserved rest.
“On the first, I took up my deserved rest in Germany,” he said. “This is what I have done in the last one- and-half until I heard about this rumour. The best way you can describe it is a wicked rumour. That I’m not alive is a wicked rumour from the pit of hell. They said I was bed ridden, that I was on life support. But my support is Christ. I am back hail and hearty”
It was reported that the governor was in the European country for medical treatment after the March 26 All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention in Abuja.
Shortly after the report, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Richard Olatunde issued a statement saying: “It is glaringly insidious for anyone to claim that a man who was with his brother Governors in Dubai till March 31st, is being hospitalised in Germany.
“What exposes this shameful falsehood is the fact that an online claimed the Governor was flown out of the country to Germany when in fact, he left for Dubai.”
However speaking on the state-owned television station, OSRC, the governor confirmed he was in Germany for his “deserved rest.”
