Eid-el-Fitr: IHDA Urges Muslims, Nigerians to Imbibe Lessons of Ramadan

A socio-cultural group, the Ikale Heritage Development Association, IHDA, has called on Muslims and all Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan even as the world celebrates the Eid-el-Fatr.

Chairman of the association, Otunba Sola Olatunji, in his message to Muslim faithful, urges them and all Nigerians to develop our manners and moral fortitude, how to treat our fellow human beings with respect, how to strengthen our brotherhood, how to maintain unity among the Muslim community, and how to welcome  non-Muslim..

According to the business mogul, the  Muslims’ holy month of self- purification and self- denial, otherwise known as Ramadan, has just ended.”

Olatunji said: “While it lasted, the season of fasting and prayer offered all Muslims the opportunity to reflect on their relationship with Allah. It also enabled those with means to share food with the poor, the needy and the less-privileged.

“For all Muslims, it was an opportunity to rededicate themselves to the teachings of the faith and the cause of mankind as a whole. Altogether, it was a period of deep reflection on the inter-relationship between man and his neighbour, on the one hand, as well as man and his God, on the other.

“Even though the month-long fasting has come and gone, these lessons must endure. As one of the five pillars of Islam, Ramadan has a highly spiritual significance. It is a period of self-emptying without which no spiritual being can have a truly rewarding relationship with his or her maker. The aim is to enhance spiritual growth and foster charity and brotherly love.”

Olatunji also calls on Muslims and Nigerians to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country, especially as we prepare for the 2023 general election, while wishing all Nigerians happy Eid-el-Fitr.
