Vice-President and an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant in the 2023 general election, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has said his experience in the last seven years had prepared him to lead a new Nigeria.
He spoke during a meeting with some members of the APC at Oregun, Lagos.
Osinbajo was warmly received by Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and party faithful.
Said he: “I’m certain that with God’s help, we’ll achieve a new Nigeria. I have served for seven years as the Vice-President. In those years, I have worked under President Muhammadu Buhari, who in many ways had ensured that I was exposed to many things in governing a complex and diverse country such as Nigeria. I’ve also acted as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at various times. The truth of the matter is that God does not make mistake. The reason God gave me those experience is because a time will come when our country will need new leadership and that time has come. It is time now… God helping us, we’ll achieve bringing about new Nigeria and all of us will see it.”
He solicited votes from delegates during Sunday’s primaries, saying their votes would ensure the birth of a new Nigeria.
“We want a Nigeria that is safe and secure; a new Nigeria with enough employment for our young people. We want a Nigeria where young men and women will have ambition and fulfilled their ambition here. I’m sure we achieve that. God will help us on Sunday to win and we’ll go on to win the general election for our great party, APC,” he said.
Southwest Coordinator of Osinbajo Grassroots Organisation Dr. AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef told the crowd that a new Nigeria was on the way, urging people to key into it.
AbdulLateef, the Chief Imam of Lagos State House of Assembly Mosque, said Lagosians were proud of Osinbajo’s achievements as the vice-president.
