The Ikale Heritage Development Association, IHDA, has sent a message to congratulate Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu on the election victory as the All Progressives Congress, APC, standard bearer for the 2023 presidential election.
The former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, took a major step toward his ambition of becoming Nigeria’s President by winning the All Progressives Congress’ presidential primary at a special convention held in Eagle Square, Abuja.
Tinubu polled a total of 1,271 votes – more than four times the votes scored by his closest rival, Amaechi who had 316 votes.
Osinbajo, Lawan, and Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State came behind the duo with 235, 152, and 47 votes respectively.
Chairman of the socio-cultural group, Otunba Sola Olatunji who described the feat as a landslide victory said it was enormous to be trusted by the 2,322 delegates that voted at the party’s primary.
“I would like to congratulate, first, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on fighting a great battle as the real Trojan, and second, the other aspirants for giving him a run for the presidential ticket,” Olatunji said in a message to the winner and APC.
“Even though it was obvious that Tinubu was head and shoulders above the other contestants politically, they however showed extraordinary stoicism and profound resilience during the campaign and the final day. I wish them well.”
Olatunji also advised the winner to be magnanimous in victory and adopt the no victor no vanguished doctrine, stressing that the battle ahead cannot be fought and won by one person.
“Asiwaju should immediately reach out to all the aspirants and forge a formidable team to battle the People’s Democratic Party at the general election next year,” he said. “It has been a remarkable and historic victory for both Asiwaju, the contestants and the entire APC family.
“The victory is a mandate for reform and for investment in the future of Nigeria as a nation and it is also very clearly an instruction to deliver by giving the citizens the dividends of this victory.”
