The remains of the former Inspector General of Police, IGP), will be committed to mother earth on Saturday, August 6, 2022, in his homestead, Ila-Orangun in Osun State.
Balogun, one of the most accomplished indigenous IGP in the  history of the Nigeria Police Force, died at the Reddington Hospital in Lagos at about 8.30 p.m., on Thursday, August 4, 2022, due to a yet-to-be disclosed ailment.
The family, according to reports, disclosed that the earthly remains of the ex-IGP would be moved to his hometown, Ila-Orangun, on Saturday, August 6, and would be buried in his country home according to Islamic injunctions before 4:00 pm the same day.
During his tenure as Nigeria’s 11th indigenous Inspector General of Police, Balogun, a fellow of the premier highest military institution in the country, the National War College, scored many gallant goals during his tenure spanning between March 6, 2002 (when he was appointed IGP by then President Olusegun Obasanjo) and January 2005 when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, began to investigate him.
The late IGP, among several other honours, was recently installed as the Oluomo of Igbomina in Ila-Orangun at the palace of the Orangun of Ila, Alayeluwa, Oba Wahab Oyedotun, Bibire II. The ceremony was attended by all first-class Igbomina traditional rulers in Kwara and Osun states.
