APC Accuses Adeleke of Sponsoring Protests in Osun After Election Tribunal Verdict

Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress  has accused  sacked Governor Ademola Adeleke, of sponsoring protests in the state against the judgment of the state Election Petition Tribunal on Friday.

The party further said the protests allegedly being sponsored by Adeleke and his party, the People’s Democratic Party, could worsen their case, instead of adding positive value to it at the Appeal Court.

But reacting, the Osun PDP acting chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle, said the protests indicated that the people rejected the verdict of the panel.

In August 2022, the immediate past governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, and the APC  at  the tribunal challenged the victory of  Adeleke, the PDP governorship candidate at the July 16, 2022 governorship poll in the state.

Delivering judgment on Friday, two out of the three-member panel of the tribunal held that Oyetola was able to prove that there was over-voting in some of the polling units.

Tetsea Kume, who read the majority decision, held that INEC did not comply substantially with the constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act.

On Saturday, there were protests in Osogbo, the state capital by the PDP supporters, who faulted the judgment.
