An Ondo South group under the auspices of Ondo South Citizens Forum has assured embattled Senator Jimoh Ibrahim that the people in Southern Ondo will stand with him like the Rock of Gibraltar as he continues to liberate the people of Ondo State from political slavery.
Senator Ibrahim has challenged the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election of April 20 in court insisting that the supposed primary was a disgrace to democracy. The party reacted on Wednesday by suspending him from the party at the Ward level accusing him of involvement in anti-party activities.as contained in a statement signed by 29 executive members of the party, including the chairman and secretary in the ward, Mr Adetokunbo Adetola and Sola Omotoye respectively
But the group has encouraged the Senator not to be discouraged in his pursuit of justice as the chairman of the group, Otunba Sola Olatunji stressed that the battle is not against Lucky Aiyedatiwa or any other person for that matter, but against people who want to circumvent our laws with impunity.
In a letter to Senator Ibrahim and signed by the chairman, the group said: “Dear Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, we have always seen you as a man who shouldn’t be taken for a ride. We also know that you hate injustice with passion, and you will never stand any injustice no matter how infinitesimal.
“We knew you fought against injustice when Mimiko wanted to impose someone from the central after he completed his eight years from the same Ondo central, and you won. You did not gain any material things from that battle afterwards, but just to make a statement that was loud and clear against injustice.
“We knew you expended huge resources to fight against injustice then, and we know this one can’t also be less. Be assured that Nigerians home and beyond who are true lovers of democracy and egalitarian society are applauding your audacity and unflinching courage to fight for humanity always. .
“Like you rightly said at several fora, this battle is not a personality contest between you and anyone. It’s also not primarily because of you but the oppressed and upcoming generations who may not have the wherewithal to seek redress against injustice. It’s all to strengthen our democracy and adherence to the rule of law, like the practice in advanced democracies around the globe.
“We totally agree to your position. In the last few weeks, your profile as a social crusader has increased exponentially across Nigeria and beyond. We are also very proud to be your kinsmen and your brothers and sisters. We are very optimistic that you are fighting a battle against the forces of darkness who brag as Democrats in the public, but in the real sense of it, they represent forces of darkness against democracy.
“We are not ignorant of the fact that this battle is going to be very tough, and we also know the only warrior that can liberate your people from this unwholesome political and economic subjugation is you. Remember that those who fought similar battles for their people in history get mentioned across the globe even when they are long gone.
”We know that those who preferred to kill democracy on the 20th of April are all over the place from top to bottom, begging you to withdraw the case from the court. You should know that your courage to always fight against injustice for your people has continued to earn you accolades.. We want to assure you that in this battle, there are a multitude of people behind you across the world. Please, this is not the time to succumb to any pressure from people who are notorious for circumventing electoral laws but always willing to foist a product of injustice on Nigerians.
Be assured that true lovers of democracy both home and abroad are behind you in this battle. An injustice to one is also an injustice to all.
